I know hyperbole is the hallmark of tobacco reviews. People who don't like a tobacco will accuse it of all sorts of things. That said, I've generally found my experience with tobacco to be far milder than what is described online. Even so, I'm having a hard time not being terrified of Lakelands with all the paranoia that goes around about the essences tainting everything. "I smoked a Lakeland fifteen years ago, and my mouth is still ghosted! If you plan on smoking Lakelands, I recommend cloning yourself and dedicating a separate mouth to it!"
That said, I've smoked G&H ropes and haven't been able to detect an iota of the Lakeland taint that's supposed to be there even in unscented offerings.
So, should I be worried about shipping Lakeland tobacco, like Ennerdale bulk, in my P&C Order? Will all my other blends in that batch smell like Geraniums forevermore?

I was once shipped a very generous sampling of lakelands and the box itself a year later still smelled of Lakeland essence. My sample of Bobs chocolate flake which ended up in a jar ended up eventually not smelling as strong.
Where I to get a desire for some strange reason for that unique taste I wouldn't order anything else with it.

I once jarred a Lakeland and when finished with the tobacco I could not get the scent out of the jar. I tried washing it, using bleach, ammonia, ozone, boiling it, immersing it in ionizing radiation and even biting it in a fire. Nothing worked! Houses were evacuated for miles around while I was burning it due to the smell! It finally made its way to the local landfill and they were able to do away with their odor masking system and have asked for more just like it!
Ok, I'm full of $#!+...

I like that everyone who has responded so far has "tex" in his username.
Hmmmm. I may just wait to try Ennerdale until I can get it in the tin. Tin is out of stock right now; bulk only.

I figured that was the answer.
Tinned Lakelands aren't a problem, though, surely?

It was a good story!
Well, I just placed my order, so experience soon.
I split the Lakelands into their own separate order, but I'm eager to see what all the fuss is about re: the aroma.
Smells are interesting: even with the technology of the internet, there's really no way to preview them. Most of the time you can view a product on the internet and get a pretty good idea of what it will be like, but reading reviews about pipe tobacco is really hit-or-miss given the subjective nature of taste.

Designate your shipping service. Only have your Lakelands transported by one postal or courier service, and do all the rest with another or others. That soapy smell can linger in those trucks for years and years.

Sorry to all of you who order USPS in the Southeastern U.S.
You may notice a whiff of Lakeland in your tobacco. My bad.

for some reason people are just completely delusional when it comes to lakelands!?
Some are more sensitive to it than others.
I had one order with mixed Lakelands and other bulks. The Lakeland stank up the box, and then had to be segregated in its own box within another box, but I do not recall it tainting the other tobaccos in the order. From my experience, for another tobacco to pick up significant amounts of the Lakeland flavor, it must come into physical contact with the Lakeland, sort of like how Ebola, AIDS and syphilis are spread.
That being said, I'd jar up those Lakelands quickly and put them in a safe place, like a house that you don't own. ;)

It's no biggie, guys. I will see how sensitive I am to the Lakeland essence (and if I even like it) and then I will know for myself for future orders. I'm OK with risking a few bucks on shipping rather than risking more $ on tainting a large order with a smell I don't like--at least for the first order.

Maybe Lakelands pipe tobacco has some sort of forensic use, for tracking laundered money or drug shipments. They could have a designated federal correctional facility for the perpetrators. They could keep them in a fortress made of corn cobs.

The package says it will be delivered by Friday, but when I stepped outside my house this morning, I already could smell a floral aroma outside. When I got to work, the aroma was still there. I may have polluted my entire city.
I suppose it could just be the spring air, but I'm thinking it's got to be that Lakeland essence.
