After reading the series I gained a whole new respect for the Granada Holmes series with Jeremy Brett and David Burke/Edward Hardwicke. Granada in a lot of instances used the exact dialogue from the writings for the script. That series is the closest to Doyle's writings out of any Holmes iteration I've ever seen. If you haven't watched the series it's well worth it.
