Shark Fishing & Pipes

Went shark fishing on my boat the other day, and yes, I brought along my pipe as there can be a lot of waiting while the chum slick does its thing. I hooked into a nice one in mid-pipe! All said and done, we caught two mako, and three blue shark. We did bring home one mako, a good "eater"...wife and kids loved it grilled up.

Very cool, I would be afraid I would accidently bite through the stem while realing that sucker in! I'm glad you had a good day out on the water and this wasn't a "I dropped my pipe in the water" story.

Love the pics! Looks like a great time fishing and smoking, and good eating too! My wife and I used to grill Thresher shark steaks when we lived in CA. Never see it for sale in MS....

Funny you say that, because I almost bit through the stem when I was dehooking the shark!

Thresher is an equally tasty fish. I haven't got one yet, but we did speed by one cruising on the surface one time on the way to the sharking grounds.

Great shots! Love saltwater fishing and hope to someday fly cast to some threshers or a Mako. I'd have to have a lanyard on that pipe though, lol.

Wicked cool! I bet those sharks put up a pretty good fight. I'd either have been puffing like a locomotive or have dropped the damn pipe in the ocean.
