Shapes

It occurred to me that all my pipes are either pots, apples or bulldogs. Not that I've had other shapes in past---billiards, Zulus, Rhodesians, etc..., but of what remains are exclusively pots, apples and bulldogs.
It's kind of a revelation to me that I actually have a preference.
Has anyone else here come to similar conclusions regarding shapes?

Classic billiards are all that I own. I guess it just says pipe to me.

Not a huge fan of Dublins, Lovats or Bulldogs. Other than that, anything goes.

I prefer Rhodesian and Bulldog but I have a variety of other shapes. I go by if the pipe strikes me, or not.

Straight Bulldogs (over 40) by far, with a few bents thrown in. Only 3 Rhodesians.
And as many Billiards, pretty evenly split between straights and bents.

There are shapes that I like, but have yet to acquire, eg Zulus and Lovats

Then there are those that I will never ever acquire eg Hungarians, Castello Shape 55, Charatan Countryman, volcanoes and Danish plateau-rimmed freehands.

Conservative shapes, bent to some degree, will attract my eye when they're on the wall or in a case. A straight pipe rarely catches my attention when I'm browsing a shop.

I exist in the constant tension between my love of lovats and my desire to exclusively buy meerschaum pipes.

I don't own a meerschaum lovat yet, but they're rare. The ones I've seen hurt my feelings because they're on the heavy side and the light weight is ~30% of why I prefer meerschaum.

I can say with confidence though that the majority of the briar pipes I will buy over the course of the rest of my life will be lovats.

I haven't concentrated on nor avoided any particular shape, but the billiard shape predominates in my collection, no doubt as a result of my preference for small Canadians.

WoW! What a nice collection! I like this style of pipe!.....But I like a few more too! Any Pipe just has to strike my fancy at the right time and my price range...lol

I'm primarily eggs, apples, dublins, and volcanoes. Rarely straights and never bulldogs or rhodesians. Seem to enjoy meerschaum primarily now.

I like most shapes and have a varied collection. I go by what catches my interest at the time, I do have more bent pipes than straight if that means anything.

I prefer briar pipes with a quarter-bent and then a fairly straight walled bowl. Sand blast works for me.

I was always a collector of classic British pipe shapes, especially billiards and bulldogs/rhodesians—both straight and bent. In the last few years, mostly from ogling the fantastic pipes on this and other forums, I've branched out into Italian pipes and artisans.

Bent brandy is my fave. If I commission a pipe, it’s a bent brandy.

For me it's straight bulldogs & straight dublins.

Almost all the pipes I inherited were straight bulldogs or apples. When I first started buying my own I got into bent pipes, but eventually developed my own preference.

Sandblast cherrywood or billiard, usually with a bend.
I've recently decided I will only buy sandblast pipes in the future. I have some nicely graimed smooth pipes, but they don't speak to me anymore.
