The finest cube-cut Burley, chosen for its deep, nutty flavors, forms a robust foundation for this sophisticated blend. Rich, red Virginia tobaccos are added for their subtle sweetness and complexity, while the unique spice of Perique provides added dimension. A delicate kiss of Brandy polishes the blend to a perfect finish. Barbary Coast is delightfully satisfying, with hints of black walnut, dark chocolate, and dried fruits. The perfect "all-day" smoke!

The name, Barbary Coast, came from my good friend Toren Smiith, in one of the most mind-stunning stream of consciousness, free association, brain dump emails I've ever received. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the perfect name. Thanks, Toren, and everyone else who sent great suggestions! The prize? You're lookin' at it, buddy! Fame, but no fortune.

STRENGTH FLAVORING TASTE ROOM NOTE
I've learned firsthand from our experience with the Crawl, not to judge too hastily. My opinion of Deep Hollow went from a 4 on the first bowl, to a solid 8 Saturday morning, when I was smoking a bowl at 0-Dark-500 on the way to a fly stream. It was down right tasty.
My initial impression of Barbary Coast has been very favorable. The brandy dominates but the casing isn't overbearing. I'm still not able to identify additional flavors but the mix is good, earthy and fruity but only a tad sweet. I did and do have problems with the burn. The bowl goes out as soon as you quit sipping and requires a half dozen relights along the way. I did discover that gravity feeding the bowl helps the burn a bit. Use the lightest touch in tamping to assure best burn. I suspect that drying out the baccy a bit will help but I haven't had the chance to test. I plan to pack a bowl before bed and let it rest overnight, to see if that helps.
But bottom line, I enjoy the flavor and find it refreshingly different than the other burleys we've smoked thus far.
