So my senior prom is coming up at the end of the month. Very excited to go, and very lucky to have my Girlfriend of over a year come with me. I was wondering, did anyone ever do anything to "woo" the ladies at your prom? (not asking for advice lol) Today, us kids are all about the fast cars, loud speakers, and money. Does anyone here have any prom stories or traditions to share???

Don't go with the white tux and walking stick thing. Its been done to death and you'll just look like a douche bag in the photos. Black is the way to go and show the lady respect. Its a big night for you so don't blow it by doing anything stupid. You'll have bigger events in your life so use this as a steping stone for the future. Good behavior at a formal function will set the tone for your future endeavors.

Class is always noticed and appreciated.

Thank you very much Papipeguy. Hahaha I agree about the white tux and cane, but I'm sure there will be some ballsy guys who do dress that way, I am wearing black. Might post some pics at the end of the month.

Lol "Today, us kids...and money." As if things have changed, ever!

To be honest, I'm not sure I'm the best to give advice...I got nowhere, as it were. However, I had a good time. I had a good time by just letting loose, and dancing and enjoying time with friends and the girl.

However, beyond just making sure to have fun, I'll go with pa; don't be disrespectful. You have the advantaged of having a girlfriend already, don't mess that up by doing anything stupid during or after.

Also, I again agree with pa, don't go for flash. A good, black tux is the perfect formal clothing for a man. It's classy. It looks good. And it never goes outta style.
My tradition, from my junior and senior proms: Denny's after the dance. With the group...none of the group was concerned with EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, however.

Also, look up the Hitler dance. It's a Whitest Kids You Know sketch. Quite funny...and if you get a few friends to join in, it will cause a laugh. At least, did for ME and MINE lol.

I'll have to look it up. My parents graced me with a great set of manners and am probably the most chivialrist guy at my scholl (not to brag), so no worries there. I'm sure prom will be a great time!

I went to four proms.... I went my Freshman year with a Senior, my Sophomore year with a Junior, my Junior year with a Senior, and my Senior year with a Junior. I always went with the traditional tux, black and white. I did nothing flashy, other than I bought my dates flowers as well as the wrist flower. (I can't remember that things name  ) I liked to drive rather than use a limo, and I liked to go alone rather than with a group. Of course I treated the Prom as a date not a party. I never made plans for the after Prom, I let her decide what she wanted to do (party, go home, go to my place). I did make sure my parents wouldn't be home though ;)
I guess many would think this wrong to post but I am okay with it... My score was 3.5/4, 1/2 a point because my freshman year.... That was never my end goal though, it always just happened.

Sorry if that offends anyone!

HAha. My score was 0/0! I may not have gone OR done anything, but at least I was consistent! I'd like to think that if I had been smoking a pipe back then, I would've had a date for at least one prom. But considering it's me we're talking about, the pipe probably wouldn't have helped.
I think papipeguy has it right, though. This is one of the many stepping stones. Don't screw it up. Also, be VERY aware of your date's rules meted out by her parents. You'll make extra points if you show them respect. Sigh... I wish my daughter's boyfriend would take the hint... Douche.

As I remember I spent a lot of money and had a fair to middlin' time. But then that was some 40 plus years ago and my memory ain't what it once was............What was the question?

Between my date and my friends feeding me booze before and during ( I was the only under aged guy in the group) I don't remember mine too well. I say try not to go this route either

My prom story is great. You see, you decided to walk there, and it took all of 7 minutes, I was exactly 5 minutes early -- and then I clocked in.
I had to work >.>

Bubba, this might sound like a dumb question, but what do you mean by

"My score was 3.5/4" ?
Edit: The 4 proms. I get it. Never mind.

I missed the junior prom, made the senior. Went with a girl I'd been dating for a few months already. Wrist flower thingy. Suit. Freshly washed and detailed car (after all, I was picking her up). She looked like a million bucks and had spent the afternoon at the hairdresser. I guess by the "Bubba" score I was 0/1  but this was the early stages of what was turning into a long-term relationship.
Be a gentleman, and look the part.

My simple advice: Treat her like a lady, and act like a gentleman. If you play your cards right, then later on, she won't be acting like a lady and you will be clear to be a naughty boy. :puffy:

I think the best advice that has not already been given is to watch yourself at the "after-grad" party; I've seen many a good man end up passed out under a shrub whilst his lady-friend is left staring off longingly into the stars because he figured he could drink his friends under the table and still function.
I personally attended three graduation dinners, for each skipping the tux in favour of a kilt, and believe me, I had no detrimental effects...just lots of people questioning if I "am a true Scotsman", to which the only proper response is, "There is only one way to find out!" (note: this won't get you anywhere with YOUR girl :D )
