I just got it, put it into my Viking small bowl church warden. It reminds me immediately of a mild-medium maduro cigar, maybe sumatra leaf. I then let it go out and re-lit and got the flower aroma that people had talked about. Very strange! And I don't mean lakeland type flower aroma.
The package is very tightly pressed rough cut - and I was originally going to try to fit it into a pint mason jar, but it appears the quart size works better.

I had my first bowl today, in a Charatan bent pot. I followed the instructions that came with the tobacco--i.e., do not hydrate. This is a dry tobacco that is supposed to be firmly packed, etc. Anyway, I packed it firmly, and it kept going, with very few relights. It burned easily all the way to the bottom, leaving a very fine grey ash that spilled easily into the ashtray. As to the smoke itself--it was truly sublime. I still haven't identified all the tastes, so I'll smoke a few more bowls to get a fuller picture, but I can say that I felt like I was floating on a cloud, and wondering where this tobacco has been all my life.

I'm still waiting on mine. I'm in Iowa, but for some reason, my package from The Pipe Guys was sent to Florida first(???). The postal service has been whack recently; as a random aside, it appears that USPS has also lost my Meerschaum in the mail...

Does your telephone sound funny?

Haha, that reference is lost on me, sorry. Could you enlighten me?
However, the package /did/ come today.

This is a pretty amazing leaf. Harvested, dried, and cut. Full of character. Chocolatey , nutty with sweet hints of tea , and something else.

been smoking this exclusively for 2 days now. I'll need at least 10 more packs for the cellar.

no, I have not rehydrated, and don't expect to. Perfect the way it is.

Okay, this is one of those things that if you have to explain a joke, will it still be funny? You mentioned that your mail service was a bit bizarre. That suggested that somebody might be monitoring your mail. The telephone reference comes from a song of the 60s that went like this: (You figure out the melody.)

What a buddy we have in Hoover, freedom has no truer friend.

Does your telephone sound funny? He will get you in the end.
Obviously, I was just pulling your chain.

Mine is sitting on the kitchen counter awaiting the weekend when I hope to have time to enjoy it. I admire the old-timey packaging. Appears to be a lot of tobacco in that rascal.
