<p>First off, I would like to thank Jitterbug for generously sending me a couple of samples of his home grown tobaccos, that was very kind of you, I guess you're not the grumpy old man I once thought you were

Dam it!... I must be slipping!
Anywho.. What is your take on the homegrown Semois? I'm asking because the stuff I sent you was the 2nd batch that I ran through the kiln. I tried some and it seemed to be missing the intense flavor of the first batch. I kilned it a week longer than the fist batch too. Didn't want to mention that before I sent it so as to not give you preconceived ideas.

Well after just one pipe full, I would say it's a bit more mild than the Tabac Manil's Semois. I get some high notes that tickle the nose on the retrohale and if I was really pushing I could describe it as floral. It's almost malty to my palate, very smooth and creamy with no harshness... I'm not too good at breaking down reviews but let me get a few more smokes under my belt and I'll try to articulate my impressions. Bottom line is, if you sold this, I would buy it. Good job!

So ... 3-4 weeks is looking like the prime kilning time? About 120F and 70% RH? Just getting ready here! :puffy:

I kiln for 3 weeks at 115f. I don't worry about moisture content. I put my baccy in mason jars (in medium case). I'll pm you the long version of why and how unless others are curious then I'll post here.

jitterbugdude: I'm certainly curious, though I don't grow tobacco myself. Would be happy to read the long description :)

Ahhh ... OK! I've read about your mason jar / crock-pot method and look forward to the details.
Not worrying about the humidity will be huge for me as my daily RH is around 30%
Now ... off to abscond the wife's crockpot! :)
