Wow!! That is amazing! I’ve only had the opportunity to see one of these in the wild once and it was in a commercial construction site. I was 40 ft. In the air on a super high lift when I found it. She was keeping her eggs warm in a nest she had built in one of the unfinished walls. The entire job site was shut down for over 2 days to remove and relocate the nest. Very majestic and Much bigger looking up close lol.

On a smaller scale, I was chatting with relatives in Kent one day and across the road, about 25 feet away, was a pigeon pecking about in the verge. Suddenly there was a phwomp sound - a sparrowhawk had taken the pigeon out in one hit, big cloud of feathers, then grabbed it and flew off at low altitude to find a spot to enjoy a feast. Never experienced that before or since.

Many years ago, I drove up on one that was pecking at a dead deer on the side of the road that was flanked by thick forest on either side. I was about 20 feet away, and I got to watch it for a few minutes. It eventually got annoyed and took off, going in the opposite direction from where my truck was facing. However, it turned around behind me and flew very low over my truck, straight up the road. That was pretty cool. This was well before camera-equipped smart phones, unfortunately.

They are jaw dropping up close. Last March, in a small Louisiana town, we drove past this one. I had to do a double-take and tell my wife "that's an Eagle, right?". This is on a city road. He was undeterred as we pulled along side. Previous, I had only seen them from afar along the Potomac River up in Maryland.

Al, there used to be one that I'd see off of a roundabout in Smithsburg on a weekly basis. He'd sit in a field with cows and just kept watch. People would pull over and take pics. He eventually stopped appearing. Perhaps he was tired of the paparazzi.

near Beaver Creek I assume (on 66)? My old stomping grounds as a kid, but I never saw a Bald Eagle.
