Welcome from the Central Coast of California!

You can put your location in your Profile—(please!—because people will forget!) That will save questions in the future as to where you live when you later mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc., etc..
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. Just country if you must.

Welcome from Louisiana! I hope that’s either Community or Cafe du Monde you’re drinking! ?
I also came from cigars to pipe tobacco to save $$, but I’ve discovered cigar auction sites and have recently gotten back into cigars a little, too.
CDM with chicory.
I always have either community or CDM in stock.
Once you enjoy excellent New Orleans style coffee there is no substitute.

Nothing is cheaper than Pipes and Tobacco. Nothing, not even my X, but that is because pipes and baccy are WORTH IT!!

I was over at my uncles house the other day and his most expensive pipe cost about $50 and the tobacco he buys is Admiral, but once or twice a year I gift him a pipe of two and a couple pounds of tobacco.

My taste in pipes and tobacco is different than his. I gave him a couple of tubs of Chatham Manor, a few of Lane Limited Match, a few other tubs and a dozen tins. The tins are always fun because I have to show him how each different flake or blend is so different. The two pipes I gave him were both Peterson System Pipes.

He was super stoked, but unless you’re my uncle, pipes and baccy aren’t cheap. Lol.
The system pipes are actually what I've been leaning towards. Once we get caught up. For now I'm making due. But I've been checking out the Peterson and Savinelli pipes.
I have to say that my cob pipe is doing fine. I bought a piece of crap in a drug store nearby. I threw it out.
I also bought a Mr Brog on Amazon that smokes fine. But soon I will obtain a weapon worthy of a Jedi.

Hey all.
I'm a long time cigar smoker who has moved to a pipe as a money saver thanks to covid. But being an addictive personality type of course I'm spending more exploring blends than I was on my of standby cigars.
Anyway I'm awake early as is my custom and I am on my third strong New Orleans style coffee and my fourth bowl and it just does not get any better.
I started out with blends that are cigar like and I've begun to try a few aromatics. So far so good.
Right now my stock is...
GLP Jack Knife plug.
GLP Penny Farthing.
C&D Pirate Kake.
Very good, but my wife says it smells like I'm barbequeing road kill. So I got a couple of gently aromatic blends.
C&D Founding Fathers and some Mark Twain.
Aromatics are challenging to my pallet but I've come around. I've just really enjoyed a bowl of each. I notice they are way way better given a bit of time to dry.
Being that the room where I chill and smoke is where our Christmas tree goes I've ordered a couple of blends which reportedly have a great room note. We will be having company in there for Christmas and the wife would rather not have them greeted by said ode de roadkill. I've ordered some 1-Q and some Blackberry Brandy by Newxxx something or other. Should get here tomorrow or the next day.
Anyway I'm really loving the ride. I've been watching YouTube reviews for hours and I have to say the innumerable blends and tobacco types with all of the nuances and subtleties is fantastic and has absorbed me. Opening packages of new tobacco makes me feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I haven't had that in a long time. Count me in.

Cheers.

Hi there and welcome! Mark Twain is a very nice mild aromatic. Have you tried Lane RLP-6? It’s become my go to aro.

Both good pipes in my limited experience with them. I have a Pete system and two Savs. They all smoke great. Nothing wrong with cobs though. I think I smoke cob pipes more than anything else.

Not yet.
I have some 1-Q on the way.
I'll give RLP a rip.
I'm really looking for a few aro blends to keep the family happy.
But my main blends will probably be burley based. At least for now.
But with all I've read about vapars I may dabble with that a bit.
I've heard Elizabethan is good?

A lot of people love Elizabethan, but it’s not for me.

Welcome ADKPiper from Sydney, Oz.
Like you, I was smoking cigars exclusively for over 10 years, then bought a tin of pipe tobacco at an airport duty-free shop, discovered a whole world of information on pipes and tobacco on the internet and haven't looked back since.
My favourite tobacco blends are English/Balkan/VaPers but I enjoy a bowlful of aromatic from time to time.
I liken them to "dessert after a main".
