Seeking advice: What would you do with single tin of unavailable tobacco?

I have a few tins like that as well. I just never get around to smoking them because I have found so many other tobaccos that pique my interest a lot more now.
I'll hold on to them and smoke them if and when I get tired of everything else that I have.

If you think you will like the blend, smoke it. If you are not sure, find a similar blend and see if you like that. If not, take some sucker for unreasonable amounts of money.

I'm considering opening the tins and dividing the contents up into small jars I can dip into from time to time.

That's exactly what I would do. Or you could share it. If you have a friend that also smokes a pipe, you could only smoke a bowl each on days you visit.

When McClelland closed the doors I picked up as many tins as I could from the local B&M stores. I'm holding them for special occasions. Opened up a 10yr old tin of Mature Va 27 at the West Coast Show last November and shared it with people at the show. The aromatics I have I'll probably get through whenever, but the rest (VA/VaPers) will be special occasions like a special birthday for me, or when I finally have a kid, or a big pipe show or something.

Good plan. And if you put the contents into one bail top jar, you won't need to mess with divvying up batches, tiny jars, etc. It'll keep a long time in a bail top with a decent rubber ring.
