Looks to me that you got one hell of a good selection of really fine pipes. Enjoy the smoke!

Is there a way to tell if this is cultured meerschaum? My understanding from what I've read online is that "finest cultur amber" refers to the acrylic amber like stem. Almost as misleading as "Made in Austria" for this pipe. So far the best I've come up with is that this is a later Andreas Bauer pipe after Otto & Kopp bought the trademark. Here is a screenshot of an Andreas Bauer pipe case markings that are similar to mine and also a link to the page:

"In 1942 Ernst Bauer, the founder's son, took over the management of the enterprise until early 1970s when Turkish law banned the export of raw meerschaum. At this time Otto & Kopp Gmbh bought the trademark. They were a large Meerschaum distributor to the German tobacconists and good customer of the Turkish Konçak Meerschaums. Lastly Sedat Konçak bought the trademark in 1990. Unfortunatly the pipes carved in Turkey continue to be labeled "Made in Austria"" (pipe next).
Also ""Finest Cultured Amber" means amberoid or acrilic mouthpiece."

Regardless of provenance I'll be sure to enjoy these! Still, I would like to know as much about them as possible.

Cultured meerschaum is more dense then block meerschaum, but not as dense as say African meerschaum or pressed meerschaum. There's nothing wrong with cultured meerschaum, as I have two cultured meerschaum pipes, and they smoke great. One of them is one of my favorite pipes, and smoke it regularly.

I have confirmed the meerschaum is an Andreas Bauer. I contacted the Pfeifen Huber shop in Munich (Pfeifen Huber) to inquire since there is one of their stickers in the case. The email correspondence is, of course, in German but they confirmed that is an Andreas Bauer and further said that it must be rather old as they haven't used that sticker in a long time.

I'm not necessarily against cultured meerschaum but confess to be happy that this is a block meer. Suits my sense of aesthetics to know that it is block rather than cultured. Silly I know. I probably wouldn't even notice a difference.
