Hello and merry Christmas.
After asking too many online shops I finally found one which ships to other countries. There are those regulations and strange tobacco laws in Europe.
So here I am with my Christmas present.
I have already tried the Balkan which is fantastic but I had a hard time keeping it lit. I will read the instructions given here again.
I can find the Petersons here in Greece but for 4 euros more for the tin.

This first order was for testing the waters. I will place another one shortly.
So please recommend me some more Samuel Gawith blends.
I do not smoke pure Virginia or burley or aromatics. My favorites are the English mixtures.

A year or so ago one of our members organized a blind taste-testing of several English/Latakia blends.

Gawith's Squadron Leader performed very well among us tasters, and was my favorite of the blends that are still commonly available.
Edit: I just looked at your picture again and see you're one step ahead of me! Well done.
Edit over.

I've also recently been enjoying their Cob Plug / 1792 Flake (same blend, different formats), but that's dark-fired that's been sauced up with like... Tonka and molasses or something, so might not be something you'd want.

SG Balkan Flake is worth a try as it seems to be one of the last to sell out. Some people complain that it's only Virginia and Latakia but that's exactly how it's advertised, about 30% Latakia leaf.
There is also Skiff Mixture which is more oriental forward compared to Squadron Leader, but unique and high quality as with everything else from Gawith and Hoggarth.

SG Balkan Flake, Squadron Leader and Skiff Mixture in your delivery? You can't do better than that, they're all very fine English blends - I have all three in my cellar.

I fold and stuff the Balkan without much issue, although some might prefer to dry it a little first. One other suggestion, SG Commonwealth, a 50/50 Virginia/Latakia - I rip through a tin in no time.

I didn't choose those blends randomly. I did my homework. Unfortunately the Commonwealth is out of stock in the particular shop.
I did dry the piece of the Balkan flake for more than an hour and followed the procedure while loading the bowl but it didn't help much. I did something wrong, apparently.

One complain though. I expected a tin full and stuffed with flakes and there was a thick card inside and some loose flakes. The tobacco wasn't much considering the high price tag. I jared it in a mason's jar. Those jars are also expensive in Greece and hard to find. There is only one importer. But they are really good and seal very well.

Well, remember that the same tins are used whatever the cut - you always get 50g. Ribbons, like SL, Skiff or Commonwealth are jammed in to the top. Roll cut, there's always a little space spare. Flakes, quite a lot of space spare. And twists... almost more space than tobacco. The card comes with all blends.

Try ordering from Synjeco in Switzerland. They carry GL Pease. I like Chelsea Morning and Quiet Nights.

Yes that would be a problem but if they have a specific tobacco which is difficult to find elsewhere it is worth it.

I shaked this G. L. Pease English spark plug tobacco tin and something klinged inside. It is definitely not flakes but a one piece thing. I don't open too many tins at the same time so I wonder what can this be and what to do with it.

Tis a solid plug of tobacco, unsliced Flake tobacco if you will.
A sharp knife and steady hand will give you flakes to your desired thickness, depending on your preference for rubbing out, folding, or cube cutting.
There should be some handy threads in the beginner section that may help in greater detail.

Thank you. Already bought an HU, the African Line - Fayyum, English blend to give it a try. Less than half the price of the Gawith. Haven't open it yet.
