Scratches in Pipe Bowl

I reamed for the first and I was winding if I scratch and damage the actual briar wood in the bowl.

Maybe I just removed a lot carbon cake?

My pipes have such scratches too, from earnest cleaning after every smoke. They smoke just fine.
