Here's your creepy start to the week. Now, a note; last week a somewhat disdainful comment was made about that week's picture: If someone would rather not see these non-pipe related pics (I do have a couple planned for the future), let me know, and I'll stop. Let me know here or PM. Now about the pic: This was the cover for a US collection by British author named Stephen Laws (the small press community knows about my affection for the British), but the drawing itself is not for any particular story, and if fact, the book doesn't even contain a story called "The Midnight Man." It was just a title Laws stamped on his book.

I appreciate that, friend. I promise to do a pipe type drawing soon. Sad to say, but cartoony drawings don't fall easily in my repertoire.

Keep it up please. I for one enjoy seeing your artwork. As for one with a pipe, cartoony does not necessarily have to be the way. I've seen some rather disturbing images in smoke before.
Edit: I mean images in smoke in artwork...you know what? I'm gonna shut up now.

Please continue.
The guy who made the disdainful comment opened the thread of his own free will.

Keep em coming brother. I think many non-pipe things are in fact pipe related from the standpoint that many of us do something else while enjoying the weed. Some of us read, some of us contemplate, some of us research, some of us do actual works. I find myself drawing to different types of tobacco depending on what I am doing. So enjoying art is certainly one of them for me.

The whole thing is awesome, but the fence posts are what really caught my attention.

Oh, and the detail on the corners of the peaks- how they're ghoulishly face-like... Very cool.

Another good one one sparrowhawk...and a big +1 on the votes to continue posting. I’ve greatly enjoyed seeing all of the ones you’ve posted.
Note: I hope it was not my comment last week that you perceived as “disdainful”. I used the word “disturbing” because you called it that yourself in the OP...I actually meant that as a compliment...I just figured you’d understand it in that manner...as in the sense of getting one’s attention in the way that any horror themed image would be intended to.
If it was my comment, I apologize for the misunderstanding...I should have been more clear.

No insult taken. I'm not even sure who made the remark last week. See, what separated me from the other artists in my field is my drawings are not meant to gross out, but rather depend on atmosphere. However, in last week's drawing, it was considered disturbing because I had tree people missing limbs, hollow limbs laying on the floor, etc. I thought that a disturbing image, but used it because that's how I see the unfortunates of our present society--shattered people, poor people, ruined people, and so forth. Same with the "Angel of Death" picture. A broken body being lifted to hopefully a better existence than this world can offer. All in all, a rather bleak aesthetic, I know, but my own life has not been a cheerful one (not to try to squeeze out sympathy from anyone), and so this is reflected in my moody art. But I'm certainly not in competition with the "Hellraiser" crowd, which is straight gross-out horror.

There was an Artist here in Tampa that did paintings of crime scenes. It was a bit morbid but great art I would say and something out of the NORM!

Yes I was going to say the same this is total tattoo quality stuff. With the amount of shading there and the detail factor he would also make a great tat artist.
