Wraparound cover for "Mausoleum" magazine. Next week: Something very special and the last hoorah.

I suppose I better explain that. You see, up to now the drawings I've posted could stand on their own as independent drawings, cover illustrations and so forth. But I've run out of these drawings. What remains are actual story illustrations, and I'm don't know if anyone would be interested in seeing these. Hence, next week's drawing I expect to be the last. If there's enough interest, I suppose I could post a test illustration and see if interest is strong enough to post such story-connected drawings. Opinions?

Very "Edward Gorey-esk Harry Clarke-esk". Keep posting your illustrations!

Yes, the first artist I'm compared to is Edward Gorey, although if you look closely our pen styles are quite different; the similarities come from the extreme--some would say obsessive--attention to detail. One magazine, the much lauded LORE, asked me once to do an illustration in Gorey's style; this will appear here before long.

LORE is only recently resurrected, isn't it? I'd very much like to see that illustration if you're able to post it.
If you don't mind, would you mind elaborating a little on "pen style"? Like a non-smoker fascinated by the pipe, I'm a non-artist fascinated by art technique :)

If LORE was recently resurrected, I'd like to find out more. They died when I had completed a mosaic back cover--it takes four issues to see the entire illustration--and I consider the work my masterpiece. Unfortunately, I have no good copies of this giant illustration, and it sold to my surprise 45 minutes into the opening of a gallery show.

As for pen style, I use technical pens and long, curved strokes; Gorey uses what I believe are quill pens and short, non-angular strokes. Also, I occasionally use stipple technique (dots of ink); Gorey doesn't.
