My dad past away 6 years ago and left a small vintage pipe collection. One of these pipes is either missing
something or needing a part. The pipe features a wooden bowl for the tobacco and a 2 5/8"" black neck
One side has engraved on 2 separate lines the words Savoy and Dr. Grabow along with a white spade
on its neck while the other side has engraved the words Aged Imported Briar. The pipe is not together between
the end of the wood and the start of the neck. I found an old box of Medico filters but I am not sure whether to
force it through the holes or whether you put it inside a metal piece that joins the two pipe halves together. If
there is a metal piece missing, do I need to get a period correct piece to keep value of the pipe. I also have a
few nicks in the varnish of the bowl, what would I use to revarnish those areas. This pipe also has a hardened mud
dubbers nest on the side of the wooden bowl. I thought since it is made of mud to just soak it in water might soften
the mud up. What should I use to get the black soot out of the bowl of a pipe. Thank you for assistance in these
issues. Any ideas on how to add pics? Regards, Robert
