This is one of the five Savinelli estates I received this weekend. I'm a sucker for Canadians and silver bands, so I moved this to the front of the line for repair. The rim was pretty beat up and the briar had a few gashes, not to mention it looked like the previous owner was Jaws from 007. I topped it then beveled the rim, patched up the stem, and the rest was downhill from there.

@Dave - another brilliant refurb! You definitely have the skill to bring life back to beaten and battered pipes! :worship:

Awesome work, Dave!
Question: How do you repair a chewed-up bit? Obviously, you are adding material to replace the missing areas, but what are you using and how do you make the repair invisible?

Excellent restoration, I love it when a lost briar is resurrected and put back in service. I like to think about all the happy smokes the previous owner or owners had, whenever I am restoring a pipe, it seems to connect me with those past smokers a bit.

I was going to get offended at the "Jaws from 007" crack due to what my nasty choppers do to my pipe stems. Then I saw the bottom view of the stem! :)
Sweet resto, as always. I think I would have resorted to having a new stem cut. I don't think I have the chops to repair one that far gone.

Except for the glorious, effectively-new, stellar result. you sure messed that one up, huh?

Another great resto Dave! I particularly like the silver on this style, and it makes such a nice contrast with the stain of the briar. You don't see Savinelli Silver pipes all that often, and this is a great example!

Love the Canadians and Lumbermans too and you did an excellent job bringing that one back to it's original beauty. Well done.

Thanks guys.
@ Rob, The stem repair isn't completely invisible. You can see the repair in sunlight, but it does blend pretty well with indoor lighting. Here is a post I made about how I fix stems.

@ dmcmtk, It's stamped Savinelli Silver.
