Savinelli does use proprietary acrylic unique to their brand which is why they come up with such beautiful stems, like in their alligator series.
If you weren't aware of the material, some artisans are using resin as a stem material. No experience but I've heard good things.

That is an insane price hike. Their other pipes have also gone up 15-20% which is a bummer because I like Savinelli's. I've only been pipe smoking for 2 years, is 15-20% a typical increase?

Sign of the times I'm afraid. Pipe prices didn't fluctuate much for many years but for around the past seven or eight years tobacco and pipes are quickly raising in price.

Look up juma stems. You may find them more pleasing.
I have two pipes by Jared Cole and Sean Reum with blue Juma stems. They are more comfortable than acrylic. I simply cannot get used to a rubber bit over an acrylic stem which to me affects the draw. It’s like buying an expensive car then having to make unsightly modifications in order to make it comfortable to drive.

Some juma is more expensive than ebonite or acrylic. It's a thermoform plastic resin and can be found in just as many colors as you could imagine. I've always likes the scale pattern ones.

I'll agree that I'm not paying these new prices, but the Punto Oro I've picked up as estates for good deals are some of my favorite Savinellis. But I'm a sucker for a good sandblast and a classic shape.

I'll keep that in mind. I've recently been getting into estate pipes for the first time and I see those from time to time on eBay.
If you go for the Partner Deluxe make sure you find the ones with the shank extension that turns them into a churchwarden.

I agree. At these prices I'd rather get something else but the reason I like the Punto Oro line are the unadorned classic shapes. Most of the Savinelli lines have some inlay or colored stem material or other flourish that I avoid. They must think this stuff sells better but they are leaving a hole for classic simple sandblasts. I don't want the bling, I want understated.

The Punto Oro line has had flashy stems as well.

This Bings Fav. was only $210 today (not a PO gold/ silver mem/ hand cut). Go figure. Italians seem to value their smooth offerings a lot more than their sandblasts. My PO 105 Petites are great, but don't smoke any better than less expensive lines in my opinion and I have 8 or so older PO Corallo's, but the vulcanite is annoying.

The price of gold is going up these days unfortunately⚖️.

I actually find Savinelli prices all over the map. They have really inexpensive stuff that’s stunning, like Roma Lucite, like all brands I guess there’s always good value if you hunt around, especially with Savinelli.

I have turned down many Savinellis because of either the wierd colors of stain, or the wierd gold n silver stem ad ons.

Also why I like the Punto Oro lines.
