The Castello came, and it's better than I could have possibly imagined. Breaking it in with a virginia blend I've made, and I have to say – this little smokes even better than a cob. I absolutely love the wide-open draw. Love the thick acrylic stem. Love that I can't taste a bowl coating. Just perfect.

In my initial smoking I used to hate it when my pipes had high drilling. I never really saw draught holes too low for "budget" pipes. Off center holes just poke at my OCD. All in all I've concluded it doesn't really matter. Holes too low allow you to smoke all the way to the bottom resulting in an ashy taste and they may get gunked up easier based on how you pack. High holes prevent that and depending on severity leave moist dottle. Of center is just ugly. For me the looks of the pipes are more important than that hole. But to each their own. It's always nice when they're drilled perfectly.
