Looks like you found yourself a very nice first pipe. I have 4 Savinelli's in my collection currently. I've owned others over the years, but have sold several off. All of them are/were great smoking pipes. I'm of the opinion you can't go wrong with a Savinelli. Enjoy your pipe.

I have a great appreciation for Italian pipes, but my tastes have always veered toward Ascorti, Radice, Castello, Capitello, Caminetto. I’d been turned off to Savinelli due to the first Sav pipe I bought being unusually heavy for its size and tasting, literally, green, as if the briar hadn’t been cured properly. It never smoked well.

But Savs may be the most popular Italian pipe out there; clearly they’re doing something right! So I decided to give the brand another chance. I’m glad I did. While Savs will never compete with the other Italians in my racks—my brand tastes were set a long time ago!—I’ve had nothing but great smokes from my current Savinelli.

And, yes, the OP has found a very nice-looking pipe!

You want to know what smoking a good pipe is like? Buy a Savinelli. Unfortunately now you have to compare it to everything else you buy, with a huge possibility of being disappointed in anything else!

Good choice!
