That’s a bummer on the 500, was it in decent shape to begin with?

I’d stick with non-chemical for the rim of the meer-lined, and don’t soak to where whatever you use creeps between the briar and the meer too much.

Many have luck applying Vaseline over logos before dialing in deoxidizers.
Thanks. After doing a bunch of reading here in pipe repair and maintenance, I'll probably forego the deox. Simply hand sand and polish.

Doing this for fun and to add to my collection. Not looking for showpiece results, just clean enough to be presentable for my own use.

I have gone so far as to use a retort system on some of my estate pipes. I think hot water is just as effective.
Micro mesh on my stems to a high polish at least once. Maybe some minor dent raising with a tea candle or other heat source prior to refinishing a stem.
