Savinelli Adaptors and taste of tobacco

Just interested to hear if anybody had experimented that the use of a Savinelli vulcanite adaptor (6mm)might lead to somewhat more acrid overall tobacco taste while smoking?Or perhaps its only me and my delusion?I was using that adaptor instead of a filter in my Bings favorite pipe which so far,had only 3-4 bowlful smoked,the tobacco used was burley forward flake, Thank you for your comments,much appreciated.

I used the Sav filter on some Dunhills, which have the tapered tenon (not filter), to tighten the draw a bit. I found no flavor issues with MM965, my regular smoke.

I use the adapter on all my Savinelli pipes and haven't noticed any taste change compared with not using the adapter. I do notice that the draw is much more open when not using the adapter, but that doesn't affect the taste, but it does affect the burn rate which I guess will affect the taste when smoked too fast.

To a fair extent, if you feel the draw is too open, tamp harder! Draw a touch less.

I use the 6 mm adaptors on six or seven Savs plus a Dr. Grabow. On one or two, there has been a temporary taste factor, pretty subtle. Mostly none. I just like the slightly more restricted air flow. I have some open draw pipes I enjoy a lot too, it just depends on the pipe. It sounds like at least half Forums members prefer no adaptor or filter.

I've seen the occasional 9mm adaptor over here, but never seen a 6mm one
