I have a Rossi 8614 made by savinelli, and I love the way it smokes. I bought it to test out if I would like the deep bend while spending half the money, and it was a success. I'd like to get a savinelli version some day, now that I know I like it. For a larger pipe than I'd usually smoke, The bend helps it just hang from the jaw, balance in the chin, and dissapear. No gurgling, but sometimes I'll get smoke in my eye since it's so close to your face.

May I respectfully suggest that when starting a thread about Pipe X, shape Y that an accompanying photo be posted by the OP.

Unless one is a fan or cognoscenti it is irritating having to have to look up which pipe is being referred to.

It allows more engagement, instead of "what the f...k is he talking about" and huffing off to another thread. 😉

Abbreviations and jargon, unless commonplace, keeps thing exclusive, rather than inclusive.

A Savinelli 614 is neither an abbreviation nor jargon and are mostly as commonplace as a Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman.

A quick copy and paste isn't a hardship and a photo could've been included to illustrate your point.

I imagine it's nice for getting wisps of smoke into your nostrils as well, aka the French Inhale. That is one of my favorite things about pipes compared to cigars. Cigars in the nostrils are almost always pepper. With pipes you really get a variety of smells and flavors.

I used to have a smooth 614, but traded it in. The pipe smoked great, I just didn’t reach for it as much for the same reason I don’t reach for my Peterson system pipes (I’m not a fan of cleaning them).

My Savinelli 2614KS dry system is one my favorite daily pipes. Almost 40 yrs old and still looks fairly new and smokes great. THe smoke does not get in your eyes. You can see the top of bowl when you light it.
Its one of the easiest to maintain. It can used with or without 6mm filter. Built to last forever with basic cleaning and maintenance. It effortlessly hangs and is lightweight ... one of my got to pipes. Just my 2 cents.

I really like them. I have a Rossi 8614 that I've been smoking mainly VaBurs out of for a while and it's been great. Recently acquired another - a Savinelli 614 Roma Lucite - that I got for a steal price. The draw is a little more open on the Savinelli, which I like. I plan to use it for latakia blends.

I have a Rossi 614 rusticated and a Sav 613 non rusticated. Rossi is Savs pipes with a lesser finish. I highly recommend them. It's a great pipe. The 614 is a system pipe, no gurgling, very dry. But only going by my experience. Im not a wet smoker. Stays lit well too.

Yeah you probably don't remember, but I asked you about yours. I bought it, absolutely love it! My only complaint is smoke in the eyes too.

Just a quick clarification, there are several versions of the '614' ---- the basic is a standard pipe with 1mm stem opening - no filter; there are some with a saddle stem that does take a 6mm filter and has an adapter to convert to 3mm opening. I bought, and am happy I did, the Dry System version with military mount and nickel band. Its just easier to deal with overall. You can still use an adapter to revert to filterless 3mm opening or smoke it filterless with the 6mm opening or use balsa filter or charcoal filter. I recommend the dry system because it gives you 'all' of the options plus a chamber like the Peterson system pipes. I believe this was Savinelli's version of the system pipe. If you were only going to buy one then buy the Dry System unless you are dead set against ease and convenience and being able to pipe clean the draft hole while smoking, then get the regular filterless one, which works in the same boring manner as any ordinary pipe. ;) :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: :sher:
