I haven't had a Hostess product in years - probably since the days of late night runs to 7-11 after smoking various recreational substances. :D

The lady at the market up the street said some company in China was going to buy Hostess. Ding Dongs will become ching chongs. Not for prime time I know, but she said it. :laughat:

I didn't know that it was a labor dispute that pushed the company over the edge. Apparently Hostess filed back in January, with $1.3 bill in debt and $900 mill in assets.
Baker's union didn't want to take 8% cuts and pension changes, so now all 18,000 are probably out of work.

Court ruled mediation today to make one last attempt at negotiations.

(8% cuts seem better than 100% cuts to me!)
And oh yes, there will be "New and Improved" Twinkies. Lots of co.'s looking to buy up brand names.

I was more bent out of shape when tastycakes almost folded a few years back... here in the phili area... they are the centerpiece of our healthy diet... along with the cheesesteak

I agree with most of you folks - someone will acquire the rights to produce them and there will be more. They're too ingrained in our popular culture not to be continued in some way.
In the meantime, I'm happy Little Debbie and her delicious Nutty Bars are safe...for now!

I can't recall the last time I had a Twinkie. The only Hostess product I ever have, and it's usually once every few months, is their cupcake things with the cream filling. I've trimmed down to medium shirts and a size 32 waist pant, so I've stayed away from junk food for a long time and have no desire to go back to them any time soon.

Well the Maya did predict the end of civilization this year, who knew they foresaw the end of Twinkies.

Im more pissed about the fate of Wonder Bread than I am Twinkies. I am a good ole' southern boy and I loves me my Wonder Bread. I'm sure we'll all manage. Personally, I like the chocolate cupcakes and snowballs better than I like Twinkies.

I heard that bam already pledged to take care of all their union workers already. Heard that on the radio, likely it was bs. Gotta be careful what you choose to believe with regards to the polital news here.

I am sure that the new Twinkie blend will taste nothing like the days of old...

Twinkies have ingredients found in sheet rock, shampoo, and rocket fuel. Makes you wonder what other common foods contain.
