DoctorBob's Ruff Root Liverpool thread reminded me that I had a smooth example of the same pipe in my rack.

I'm not a Sasieni collector, but like higher-grade BritWood and the Liverpool shape categorically, and this one had the "granite" grain that I'm a sucker for:

I like those long-shanked shapes, the Canadians and similar shapes, the most stately.

Thanks for the new descriptor: 'granite grain', and me from NH originally, well, born in ME, but grew up in NH.

I got a pipe early on with that type of grain, because of the grain. It's a ButzChoquin Giante and my first 'premium' estate buy. Still, though it's like new, I got it for under $50.00.
