I never thought about it until seeing this post to ask about what sellers mean by sanitized. I always assumed they just gave it a quick swab of alcohol or something but you're right that sanitized should mean more than that.

This ,I have been encountered this in the recent past with few pipes bought from a couple of reputable Danish outfits.makes me mad.if I'm paying top dollar for refurbished estate pipes could I expect them to be ready for smokes without taking any additional internal cleaning from my part.
