Good evening everyone, I was recently introduced to S&G FVF and love it but can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone know of any other full virginia flakes that are similar that I could try?

You're not going to find something similar to FVF. However, if you're looking for other Virginia Flakes to explore, you've got options like Sutliff 507C slices or Newminster 400 Superior Navy Flake, which are very popular with pipe smokers. They're not similar to FVF, but they are good in their own ways, and there are still more options. The next time there's a drop, sample some of the Gawith and Hoggarth unscented flakes and when Gawith drops again you'll know to buy yourself some FVF.

I'd like to offer you a suggestion. Laudisi is handling the distribution of Samuel Gawith. On their website Laudisi have a convenient list of brick and mortar shops that carry their products. I have no doubt that after a few phone calls you'll find what you're looking for, and likely even somewhere within driving distance to spare you shipping expenses.

Well, you've got to type "Samuel" correctly, for starters... ;)

I tease. It's not unobtainium, but you do have to be ready to buy when it drops. If you follow the forums, and set alerts at your favorite online merchants, that should be enough heads-up to snag a little. (I try not to be too greedy, just snapping up a couple of tins of a scarce blend at a time.)

If you like FVF, then I think you will like HH Pure VA Flake. Not the same, but quite similar. Readily available, even in 1 pound boxes.

SG pops up more regularly than other hard to get blends. If you really like their stuff, you'll have be ready to get as much as they become available. See, I like their blends, but too lazy for drops. Plenty of other brands that will scratch my itch.

So how would one go about getting the information on drop schedules?

Assuming you're in West Virginia---have you tried:
(1) The Squire Tobacconist - (304) 345-0366
(2) La Fontaine's - (304) 523-7879
(3) Old Gap Mills Country Store - (304) 772-4178

You don't need a drop schedule to get your hands on FVF. There are tins sitting on shelves collecting dust waiting for you to pick up the phone and find them.

Though now that you're stated this publicly in this magpie infested forum, maybe not...

I was going to ask. I see these are easy to acquire. I’ve been wondering how good they are because most reviews say they’re VERY good. Peterson (Dunhill) Virginia Flake is good and easier to deal with for me.
Union Square is a broken flake and rubs out easily. It's pretty complex for a straight VA. It has a nice malty breadiness from the reds and some good grass, hay and honey from the brights. Moderately sweet and an overall rich and satisfying smoke.
