Hmm, just saw someone wasn’t happy there was no notification, newsletter, etc... for the Gawith drop.

It sure would of been nice if SPC did send out a newsletter on this, I wouldn’t of mind trying this plug.

hmm 🤔

P.S. They have my Grousemoor as the plug, never had the plug though... 🤔

The site gets slammed hard enough without an email blast. Notification would be even more of a disservice.

My background is in IT, servers, can handle loads and traffic, slamming a site, is more like a DOS attack, flooding the network.

Not sure what you meant by an email blast... 🤔

Mass traffic to a website, doesn’t hurt anything in todays world of Broadband.

Notifications are not a disservice to consumers who wish to have them, and sign up for them.

The problem, is how companies pick and choose the relevance of certain items to notify consumers, but given the extreme nature of certain blends, and rarity, a company should place importance of notification on harder to acquire items. It seems, SPC decided to leave this as chance and luck.

Go out and look at the world of major businesses in eCommerce, when selling and releasing products, there is always marketing/notifications made available to consumers.

Anyhow, I’m not saying yeah or nay here, or I liked or disliked the actions of SPC, I’m just being Swiss in the Middle... LOL 😆

So, it is, what it is, it’s their choice, how SPC chooses to market.

I also hate I missed the drop, but, I did get 1lb of 1792 Flake and that will last plenty long enough.

Been a long time since I had that one but I do remember loving the strength of it and the flavor. So, although its been 10 years for me as a pipe smoker and still no FVF or St James, ill gladly take what I can get when I know its something I enjoyed prior.

Their site literally was overrun and discussed here how they were routing and managing the traffic by diverting folks to an alternate holding page.

Back in the early 20 teens, you could occasionally find 250g boxes of most SG blends and once in a long while even 500g boxes of various flakes, though none of the plugs were available then. The tobacco was sealed in a foil bag in the old 250g boxes. I dont recall if the 500g boxes had a foil bag or a ziplock or just a folded cellophane wrapping. I'm wondering how this new iteration will come packaged. Anyone that ordered from this drop would do well to check the packaging before tossing the boxes in to a dark corner of their closet...

Gawith's sell their tobacco ready to smoke,if you wish to cellar then yes it requires you to put it in something suitable

I think it's cool that you guys are into the plugs, and SG was pretty smart in making those available.
I just don't care for the headache of prepping those things.
If I didn't know any better, I'd credit/blame hipsters with the resurgence in plugs:

Old-timey ✔️
Used to be considered extra-manly ✔️
Inconvenient ✔️
Fiddly ✔️
Niche, to the point of being almost extinct ✔️
