I never thought of FVF being that strong but it is good to know. Hopefully I'll be able to give you my take on it soon.

In my books:
Samuel Gawith St James Flake 8/10

Full Virginia Flake 7/10

1792 Flake 10/10
I'd personally consider Escudo more of a 4/10, but could be the age on the tins I have stashed away ;-)

Its interesting how tobaccos can impact people differently. I would put FVF lower than St. James Flake, 1972 around an 8-9 and the ropes 10+.

Havent tried 1792 ( not sure i will ) - but i enjoy both FVF and St. James Flake. The strength of neither is over the top for me & they are excellent smokes, IMO :) SG BBF is also great.

I love 1792. It was a slow progression. I loved the nicotine hit and that's what kept me coming back. It was the flavor that grew on me. I enjoy all the Dark Fired blends. I'm not a big Pease fan, but Triple Play is awesome. It has both Dark Fired and Perique in it. Sorry, I got off track. Best Brown and Sam's Flake are the middle of the road at a 5. St. James is about a 6 with FVF. Bracken flake is about a 7-8 and 1792 is a 9. I have yet to try a 10, but 1792 is the closest I've come.
