My thought was the same. I'm not sure that it is and may try to investigate further before I throw out the tobacco, but that's what I was told. Regardless, a replacement tin is on it's way!

15 284 - The date code label was wrapped around the side to bottom edge of the tin and part of it was actually under the back label.

You are all wrong. It is hair from a Yak and it was placed there by the tobacco gods. You must have pissed them off somehow. Repent now and maybe the rest of your stash will be hair free.

Yeah, definitely gross and some bad quality control at that point! I hope it gets resolved some way, keep us posted!

I received a replacement tin of Sam's Flake yesterday and it's from the same batch (15 284), but doesn't include a copious amount of hair or mold or whatever was in in the previous tin. Thanks for staying tuned on this issue and thank you to Watch City Cigar & Pipe for responsive and excellent customer service!

....i saw an episode of "How its made" and it featured snuff making (I its not pipe tobacco) Sam Gawith. It showed their master blender blending snuff tobacco on the factory floor.....yes on the factory floor!!!

So if this process is still being used, I don't doubt that there may be other things that can be picked up along the way. I tried to find the video and upload it, but I couldn't find it...
