I could only encourage you to do some deeper research on the subject. There is a pretty good documentary out there called, Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price for starters.
One of the worst documentaries I've seen.
"They made me work half a day on Thanksgiving! They don't care about families!" *sob*sob*
Oh the inhumanity!!! Gimme a break...

First offI live in rural America and can afford to shop anywhere. Second My mother works as one of those door greater people for wallymart and they treat her better than any job I have seen. I don't have it out for small business but free market is awesome. Now the next time a Walmart makes someone shop there or makes someone work there let me know. Can't blame Walmart for running a successful business.

I wasn't trying to insult anyone. I would be insulting myself lol. I don't just mean that people in rural areas are poor. I mean sometimes it is literally the only option. My parents who live in a rural area can't afford to drive an hour and a half every week for groceries. Not just for money's sake but the time it takes to make the trip. But as for the rest of what you said I agree totally. I think the reason people get so up in arms is because it is a corporation. All a corporation is a company will limited liability and most of the time holds stock. Money goes to shareholders for the most part or goes back into the business. The high execs do make their cut and rite-fully so. It is a very difficult job.

Well, since everyone else has continued to comment on this topic here, I see no reason why I shouldn't as well. Like most things in this world, the rabbit hole on this goes as deep as you wish to explore...but I'll just say this: I eschew labels, but politically/economically/socially I am essentially a libertarian. As such, I am a staunch proponent of the free-market. But if anyone actually believes that these monstrous corporate entities such as Wal Mart (and many others) are products of the free-market, I can only suggest you have little to no idea what is really going on.
Over the last several decades, as an intricate part of their globalist agenda, the ruling elites of the western world (Rothschilds, Rockefellers, the "Royal" families of Europe, and their political/corporate servants) have been rapidly de-industrializing the USA, and moving nearly all of the manufacturing to slave labor factories in China and a few other locales. In order to keep the sheeple here asleep during this process, it was necessary to keep the illusion of a middle-class alive. This was done through easy credit (the era of the credit card - conditioning everyone to live on debt) and by providing dirt cheap consumer goods from the Chinese slaves to the dumbed-down American masses (who think they're getting a great deal by saving a few bucks on crap goods, while their whole REAL economy is being dismantled and their children's future along with it).
Monopoly, crony-capitalism and true free-market capitalism are as opposite as night and day. But that's ok...Detroit is in ruins, but at least you can still shop at Wal Mart.

@juvat270: Thank you, sincerely, for the compliment, but no, Brian is my real name.

First off I am also a libertarian so we probably have a lot of the same views. I honestly don't see your point though, Brian64. Walmart was founded not by a rich family but by a middle income entrepreneur. Also Walmart does have a brand that they do produce but the majority of things they sell are not produced by them. They are a retailer. They probably do, however buy from companies that have cheap labor in China and other countries. That is a very depressing and cold truth. Are they responsible for it though. I guess that is the real question.

I used to work at Sam's before they left Canada...I believe they carried a few OTC brands, and yes they treat their employees terrible (I was management). Any money you spend close to home at the local mom & pops will eventually end up back in your own pocket, and if you want a certain OTC your mom & pop will try to get it for you...Walmart won't.

Oh by the way Sam's and Walmart are not owned by the same people. When Sam Walton died he left the companies to his children. One got Sam's the other got Walmart. If I remember correctly.

Most, but not all, of the Sam's carry tobacco. The majority of their tobacco customers are actually small convenience stores and other small tobacco retailers. They do, however still sell to consumers. Pipe selection will be limited, and you may have to buy a carton (5-6 pouches) vs. individual pouches.
