...does anyone have any experience with Sailor's Pride?

...... i purchased it today at a local tobacco shop. the label doesn't give much information. it just says, 'Made in the EU' and '60 gr.'

..and of course, the can is almost covered by those annoying warning labels and a very graphic photo (which i immediately scratched off when i got home).

i haven't opened the can yet...

….I opened the can last evening...…… the tobacco is very dry and I noticed that the bottom rim of the can is rusted. So the can has been in the shop a long time (plus the shop is on the river that leads to the Bay of Cadiz which the salt air probably helped in the rusting process). …..I believe i'll have to re-hydrate it before I decide to try it out...

Not an expert, but if I dumped a can of tobacco in a container and noticed the tin had rust on the bottom, I would believe that gravity now carried any rust on the bottom onto that which I dumped. If you picked it out from the top down and got top the bottom and saw the rust, maybe the first part was ok. That being said, it's rust. Who knows how the stuff was handled. I would toss it...That's jut me.

I have now smoked Sailor's Pride. I got it in Gdansk, Poland in September and it's by a polish manufacturer called Orion Tobacco. The lettering and the small picture of a pipe are exactly the same as here, though. It's a 40 gram pouch.

The first one was called 'English Delight' which was the main reason I got it - I was hoping for at least supermarket-quality english blend that would be at least passable to smoke once. Instead, I got a rather nasty virginia/burley aromatic with cheap, weak vanilla and rum flavours and something almondy in it. There's absolutely nothing 'english' in it, as far as the term is understood in the tobacco world. Not bad enough to throw away, but definitely not something I'd want to buy again.

The other one, that I haven't opened yet, is called 'Kentucky' but based on the first one I have no high hopes that it's used as anything but a groovy name.
