Estate just means pre-owned. A pipe can be an Estate and unsmoked. All of the pre-owned pipes will be listed as Estates (but, might not have been smoked, which will be noted). Everything else will be new and probably come in a box.

What about grabows? Don’t they come pre-smoked new?

If it's listed under Estate Pipes it's not new. It might be new old stock, or unsmoked, but it's not newly deliverred from the manufacturer. New pipes are listed under New Pipes. Both New and Estate pipes can be considered "fresh" if they are newly listed.

All sp site pipes which list condition are estate pipes. They are clearly labeled.

OH well in that case, you need to try a meerschaum. They are very tough pipes that can handle a lot. Dont let that fool you.

Try one you wont be dissapointed.

jttnk bagged it, post #9. Estate pipes that say "unsmoked" have been owned by some individual for a while but never smoked. Fresh just means they are new to the SP inventory, new or used. I'm a stickler for word choice, or try to be, but those terms never caused me a problem.
