Pipestud has a real nice Bang auction ending in a couple of hours . To Ron’s point the older ones do seem to go for a lot less than the newer ones.

The shape does not recommend itself. smokingpipes has a Nazarenko blowfish in Specials for $660.00 that they've been trying to sell at that price for months. To me it's a conservative interpretation of the shape at a tenth of the price, and is much more appealing.

When a blowfish is wildly asymmetrical I love them. The S. Bang and Nazarenko examples are too tame to lure me. I like them with exaggerated geometry.

I prefer the one I own made by Former at quite a bit less than the S. Bang, not dissing the Bang as I own some and really enjoy their appearance, build, engineering and smoking qualities.

Sort of like buying a Picasso. You can buy some wonderful paintings for a tenth, twentieth, or even much less than this price, but it isn't a Picasso. By the way, this Jerry Perry bent ball carved in Mountain Laurel is wonderful smoker!
