Fire Storm is a medium-full-strength blend of dark fired Kentucky, Perique, and Virginia, but for a blend that verges into full strength, it is easy going and mellow. I tend to want to change blends (or to single leaf) most every bowl, but this one keeps tugging at my sleeve and drawing me to another bowl. The Perique dances in and out. I don't find it building, just occasionally coming forward for a spicy zing then retreating a little. The whole blend has a kind of sweetness, without being aromatic or sugary. If you are ordering tobacco in the future, this is one to keep in mind. It comes fairly moist but lights right up and mostly keeps burning. I've tried it in conical bowls and big billiard bowls, and it seems to go well either way, given a big enough bowl to unfold its flavor. I don't often get stuck on one blend for three bowls, but Fire Storm has me, maybe four...five. Anyway, its in the rotation and may be gone before it gets jarred. The tin was a bit resistant, with me plying various coins and a screw driver or two before I popped the seal with an old fashioned bottle opener on a can opener, and the tin is worse for the wear. But boy, the reward!

I second the recommendation. Last year I picked up five tins when it was on sale and I love it. Really solid blend for sure!

Picked up a tin of this a few weeks ago. It's killer stuff. Grabbed 5 new tins that I hadn't tried before and this was the winner by a country mile. If I see it on sale any time soon I'll be stocking up for sure. My new favorite.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. For the first entry in the series, I revisited Anniversary Kake. It uses the same Virginias as AK, and Perique, but in a larger amount. The dark-fired was included to give it more body. I think it delivers an experience as close to a rich Nicaraguan cigar as you'll find in a pipe tobacco.

alexnc, I say go for it. Every bowl proves interesting. I had two other blends, then went back to Fire Storm. I'd missed it. It has lots of vitality, but it doesn't cuff you around at all. You'll enjoy it.

I'm at it again, burrowing my way through this tin of Fire Storm with repeated pleasure. It occurs to me that this is a blend that could satisfy many aromatic smokers. It has a lively sweetness that few non-aromatics claim. Russ O. got something going with this one. It's slightly premium priced, because of some premium tobacco, but I think many will find it worth repeat orders. Mmmm-mmmm, good.
