I have just received my first tin. I have not had time to try it and it may be a few days.
I consider myself a aero smoker but love some Lat on occasion. I like Maltese Falcon and Billy Budd to satisfy my cravings here.
I have read that the RY has a lot of Nicotine.

How does it compare to MF both nic wise and flavor profile?

TIA,

Well, I thought this to be a English blend but so far I am thinking there may be no Lat in it?
Just Virginia to my knowledge, but I’ve never smoked it.

It’s not always correct, but it’s a great starting point for investigating blends you’ve never tried. Plus our venerable JimInks posts reviews there.

These were the first 4 blends I started with, when I began smoking, all from Early 80s Tins, and they really shaped my perception of how I look at smoking, in a Dunhill Erinmore way to this day.

Smoky & Pineapple! :)

Dunhill Early Morning
Dunhill Royal Yacht
Dunhill Nightcap
Ernimore Flake - square tin

So you have my vote for the Royal Yacht Boat, but early Murray Era or Dunhill Era, maybe some might say ok on STG, I personally, won’t smoke it from STG.

I tried the Murray version of RY and I wasn't that impressed, I would have preferred it without the topping. The robust Virginia along with the fine cut was classy but the topping really seemed out of place.

I expected Royal Yacht to be quite a hell raiser after the build-up, and I held the tin for a long time, and Forums members finally exhorted me to open it and give it a go. I was on a strong tobacco kick at the time, but I found it quite comfortable with no particular nic kick at all. I smoked it in rotation and never got it into a jar, and enjoyed that plum tang (or whatever it is). It wasn't at all overbearing to me. I have another tin cooling its heels in its original Dunhill tin.

Just straight Virginia, and the topping is quite mild to my taste and wears off quickly after the tin is opened. My palate doesn’t seem to line up with the majority on most things, so take that into considerations, but I don’t know why it’s so polarizing. It’s a very nice unique Virginia for me!
