As to whether it's an aromatic, that's more a matter of how one defines the term "aromatic" than it is a question of what's in the Royal Yacht blend. I tend to think of aromatics as blends where the topping is more tangible than the tobacco itself. If that is the definition of aromatic, then, no--I wouldn't define Royal Yacht as aromatic.
On the other hand, if we define "aromatic" as any blend with a topping, then, yes--Royal Yacht certainly has a tangible topping. (Note: that definition turns quite a few blends into aromatics!) It's subtle, and doesn't dominate those strong African virginias.
I'm a fan. Plum may certainly be an accurate descriptor of the topping, but I've always thought it was a little closer to a tawny port. Anyone with me on that?
