So gonna make this short and sweet, but was out today with the wife and we were at the antique store. She spotted two pipes one I forgot the name of and the other was a Drury Lane made in London England. It peaked my interest and I whipped out the phone after looking the pipe over for any issues and found nothing but a very very clean pipe with a oxidized stem but beautiful briar and bowl in perfect shape. So anyway found out that Drury Lane was 2nd's for Comoy, so got this thing home and cleaned it up a little bit finding not hardly any carbon or junk in it at all popped in some Dunhill London mix and she fired right up and smoked beautifully! It's a traditional shaped poker with a big ol bowl. Coooooooooool smoking and has a tip made for people who clench hard. Comoy's sells an exact copy of this on smokinpipes its under traditional and its the poker with the slim shank. My phone is being lame and keep freezing up so I'll try and get a shot later. My Peterson Killarny has just been kicked out of rotation and this inserted. Love it! My Peterson 303 is still safely in rotation though my baby lol.

Will get a pic up tomorrow, I am enjoying right now with some plum cake. It's cool how cool it smokes some of these blends that usually are kinda bitey in my sav's and nording. For sure a good find.

Love this kind of story! Waiting to see the pics.
I'm heading to my local antique store this afternoon. (Jeeze, it's 4AM!) It's been dry the last couple of months but maybe something came in.

You can find some bargains if you look around. Sadly not so much in the meerschaum line as anything with an amber stem and a case the shop owners think they have got gold on their hands. I went to a flea market yesterday on West 39th and Ninth Avenue and I saw several batches of pipes for sale. They were all briar pipes with stems in terrible shape and just generally clapped out without any makers marks and an absolute insult a $20 each!

I didn't know they made seconds either I just looked it up on pipedia. I'm taking their word for it as I have no clue on histories that far back. The stem is discolored pretty bad but the briar is in top form!

Looks like a good one indeed. See the current post on cleaning up stems, assuming this is vulcanite

or ebonite. Any pipe that is stamped from London and looks reasonably good is worth serious

consideration, in my opinion. At nine bucks ... what can I say?

Enjoying some 3 Nuns in my 2nd :D I love this thing. It knocked my Kinsale Peterson off the rotation stand! Stem was a little loose but some wax fixed that right up. I love the bowl size and the stem it looks so English. Not to mention the thickness of the bowl! Holy its crazy can smoke a whole bowl down to ash and it stays almost cold.

Comoy produced a large number of 2nds. Here's a page that lists them:
http://www.pipephil.eu/logos/en/logo-comoy.html
This was a fairly common practice amongst makers for purposing briar that did not meet the standards of their firsts. Both Comoy and Sasieni had extensive lines of 2nds and 3rds.
