EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob

I recently bought a Fratelli Rossi on eBay. The pipe is in good condition, but the stem doesn’t seem to detach the same way other pipes do, if at all. I contacted the seller and they were as clueless as I am. Is there a secret to taking the stem off of a Rossi? Or are some permanent?

If it’s just tight, you can stick it in the freezer to loosen it a bit. Then write all over the tenon and mortise with graphite pencil to lubricate it. Be very careful, it’s easy to crack a shank twisting a too-tight stem.

Does it pass a pipe cleaner? You could try S+A treatment with the stem on and a cleaner down the stem and then letting it dry out, could loosen all the gunk that's gluing it together.
