So, I've been smoking a while and I've noticed none of the stuff have really gotten a reaction from the girlfriend whether it smells good or bad and was just wondering is this typically normal for the rest of the smokers on the forum? Or is there one that the significant other or even other people in public definitely remark on that it smells; good or bad?

Haha. This is truth, honestly. Hell, on deployments it doesn't matter too much since it's always outside in the wind. Only time that matters is when I'm doing a boots on ground deployment.

Captain Black White (Color of package) AKA Captain Black regular. Very similar to McClelland 7 Seas regular but on this site you're sure to find people to take sides over which. I like them both... CBW is cheaper however. Non sibi sed patriae my friend...

Hey Ebag...

CBW is Captain Black White, an OTC. (Over The Counter)

If you are looking for a tobacco that evokes memories of "the old days", or Grand-pa...

Lane Ltd. 1Q is definitely the way to go.

You will receive nothing but supportive and positive comments from the public, when out and about.

Also, it has a nice room note that even my War Department approves of.
You can find it online and in your local B&M (Brick & Mortar) tobacco shoppe.

The local pipe shoppes will generally "rename" it to match the decor or feeling they want to impart in their stores.

Here's a partial and ever lengthening list of names for 1Q:

Accountant

Wolverine

IQ-140

Wilshire

Argonant

+1 for 1Q also. Thanks for the list Lawrence; I didn't know it had so many names. They have "Indian Summer" at my tobacconist. I'll have to investigate if this tastes the same as the 1Q I have.

I'll definitely have to look into 1Q, CBW, and 7seas then. All seem pretty interesting. I'm definitely trying to expand my horizons on tobacco some more.

Words that I can't use here have been used to describe the smell of some of my Latakia blends.I don't pay it much attention though.I just smoke them on the porch. It doesn't seem to bother the birds as long as I put out seeds for them to eat.

I would recommend smoking what tastes good and not worry about what others think of the smell.
Beware, this is from a master of his domain!
Us lowly married folks will attest that a nice smelling tobacco will get fewer frowns, waving of smoke and generally a more enjoyable smoke when indoors. :puffy:

It is unbelievable, but the other day, I got this: "What you were smoking didn't smell that bad. Why did you go back to that stinky stuff?"
Normally, my pipe smoking is as popular as a root canal.

Funny, the wife mentioned that she loved the tin note of both FVF and Cairo, but loved the smell of Frog Morton haha...
I'm in the Navy as well, and i usually smell like "ship" aka DFO, grease, and 20 odd guys feet smell so any baccy smell is better IMO haha

Mac Baren's 7 Seas Regular does end up being cheaper than Captain Black White because you can order a pound of 7 Seas Regular blend for under $20 at smokingpipes.com and a 12 oz tin of Captain Black White is $37. Even at the basic CBW pouch the 7 Seas Regular is still cheaper because the CBW pouch is only 1.5oz for around $6 and for that much you can get 4oz of 7 Seas Regular.
Have to second 1Q. I only ever get positive comments when I'm smoking that one. Usually it's the, "I smell roasting marshmellows.". It's also in bulk for just under $27 a pound. Another good one from Lane Limited is BC-A. I usually get compliments from my lady when I have that one.

Oddly enough, I've gotten plenty of positive comments on the latakia blends that I'm almost always smoking. I'm not sure it's necessary to simply assume that people won't like their room note, everyone varies. Even my mother and the lady friend appreciate Englishes. Actually, the latter even complimented the smell of SOTE, which is 50% latakia. All that to say, people will like what they like and you can't predict it. I'd smoke whatever you enjoy unless someone REALLY doesn't like it.

This is truth. My uniform pretty much has to disappear the second I get home from any underways and into the wash. haha
You have no idea....Water restrictions suck haha

+1
Thanks for the suggestions and everything else, guys. I will definitely be placing a big order for my next TAD adventure.
