He's a stand up comedian. He does a lot of shows in theaters.Strange thing is these places are non smoking. The audience can't smoke. He though smokes cigars the whole time he's doing his shows.

I've seen a few of his comedy specials yet, strangely enough, never paid attention to his cigar. I wonder if it's really smoking? The reason I'm wondering is you're right: most of these places don't allow smoking. Andrew Dice Clay, for example, used to perform holding a cigarette... but I don't remember once seeing one actually lit.
Regardless, Ron White's booze is real, I'm certain.

I remember reading once that smoking onstage in theater performances is allowed when "artistically justifiable" (maybe smoking is a big enough part of his persona to count?).

Look at The Rolling Stones, same thing. You hardly ever see Keith Richards without a cigarette.

I've seen Dice 3 times live and the first 2 times were in the 90's, he always had it lit. I think he quite smoking but it's part of his act and addiction to have it in his hand so he still has it. In the 80's he was smoking 1-2 packs a day for fun. He had to give it up I think.

The scotch is real as well, just watched an interview of the blue collar comedy tour, every one said that he frequently would start the show sober and end drunk, they mocked him for his low tolerance, who knows if its true

Okay I'm going to be "that guy". Not one of you has mentioned George Burns, who smoked cigars onstage, and both Dice Clay and Ron White would be on their freaking KNEES at that dude's feet when it comes to stand-up comedy. No one compares to the old school classics, no one. Give me Rodney Dangerfield over any of these guys in a split second. Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock combined couldn't even come close to Richard Pryor, let alone Flip Wilson, let alone Redd Foxx. My wife and I went to see Chris Rock a few years back live, and I swear I laughed once.
Ron White is funny if you're stuck with what's left of stand-up comedians in the new era, but I'd rather watch Buddy Hackett or Bob Hope or George Freakin Carlin tear it up on some 30-year old video footage than Ron White and his frosted tips and $2500 facelift. There was an episode of Letterman back in the 80s when Robin Williams (then very young) and Jonathan Winters (who really isn't even stand-up) and they did some spontaneous improv that basically blew away anything any of the new generation could do even with all their focus groups and stuff. I defy anyone side by side to look at Dangerfield in his prime versus the whole Blue Collar Tour, it's not even close. Three, four guys and Dangerfield would have left them in a scrap heap in 5 minutes.
Stand up comedy is dead.
