As a few of you know, I'm having back surgery on Monday. I'll be the first patient in Alabama to have hardware removal done by using a robot. I find this stuff fascinating! They "install" a track onto your back and the robot moves along these tracks. I almost wish I could be awake to watch. The cola can shaped object is the robot.

That is fascinating! Will they hook you up with a video after the surgery?
Good luck, by the way... hope everything turns out good and as painless as possible.

Good luck Man!..... what you find fascinating would scare the HELL out of me........but then again, I'm a bit of a puss when it comes to any surgery........ Looking forward to the video, it would be cool with a pink floyd echoes soundtrack....... :D

edit: or maybe "welcome to the machine" would be more apropos??..........

Before every surgery I've had, I've requested a video or at the very least a photo. None have abliged. I'm sure there are legal reasons.

Thanks for the kind wishes! I to hope for little pain! I've had a lot of it and after much thinking have concluded that I don't much care for it :( this surgery SHOULD be less traumatic thanks to the robot.

You have had to put up with a lot. Sure hope and pray that this surgery gives you some much needed healing.

Nate, best of luck with the surgery. I'll keep you in my thoughts.
BTW, did I read somewhere that you played rugby? If so, damn, I knew a few rugby players. They were crazy bastards!

Best wishes and a speedy recovery, Nate. The procedure looks quite futuristic!

Nate, will a large batch of Aiwass help you recover? Let us -- the internet nobodies out here -- know what we can do to help.

That's really cool and good luck! I work at a spinal implant company and just recently read about this. Will you be getting an implant?

Wow, that's just insane. Good luck man! What blend will you be smoking to celebrate once you've recovered enough to put a pipe back in your mouth? :puffy:

Nate, good luck with the surgery, hope all goes well and your recovery goes well. It is amazing what they can do now with robotic and laser surgery.

Best wishes Nate, I hope this surgery helps reduce your chronic pain at least somewhat. Afterwards you will get lots of quality time with your new chair!

Best of all possible outcomes to you, Nate! You are a treasure to these forums and I always enjoy and appreciate your contributions! I now know several people around here who have had robotic eye-surgery and their results were spectacular! Even the live human surgeons in the room remarked how the robots can be more steady, more precise, and less surgically traumatic to the patient. Here's hoping the absolute best for you!
