SP.com having their annual (maybe bi-annual?) GL Pease sale, 20$ off.

If you like this Red Virginia blend, you'll probably dig something like Windjammer. Not exactly the same form factor but a lot of similarities in taste here.

Did a little experimenting and I've found an improved home-blend replacement:

1/5 Carolina Red Flake
2/5 GH&Co Louisiana Flake
2/5 Dunhill Elizabethan Mix

Louisiana Flake brings in a little bit of that chocolatey, sugary casing, Red vs Elizabethan Mix to balance for whatever your tastes are, I've found these ratios to play the nicest between my fondness for virginias and my sensitivity towards reds.

Alternatively you can step it up a notch with something from McClellands to replace the red virginias, but can also go with bulk options like Sutliff Match Victorian and 515RC1.

Like most blends unless it's relabeled as something else you're never going to find a 1:1 perfect match. Especially the German stuff that's got specific casings.

If you're serious about hoarding McConnell's then you might be best off ordering the 100g tins from Germany off of Esterval's or somewhere similar.

You guys know McConnell's "Red Virginia" is a va/per blend with a lot of bright virginias/pinch of perique for flavor right?

EDIT: Taste wise it's a lot like Dunhill (now Peterson's) Elizabethan Mixture with some red virginias added, given my sensitivity to red virginias I actually like this blend for its 'balance' to me.
It definitely doesn't have a straight Virginia flavor. I don't think anything on the market tastes like McConnell's blend. I was a bit disappointed when I opened up a tin, expecting the familiar tasting notes of something like Christmas Cheer.

See and I'm not really a Christmas Cheer fan .. which I'm glad of considering the secondary market prices lol
