Prunella Scales, Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers, passed at age 93. A wonderful actress who was the perfect foil for John Cleese. There were only 12 episodes made but they are legendary and influential episodes in television history.

Sorry to hear of her passing. She was perfect in Fawlty Towers with John Cleese.
Wow...93...hard to believe. Amazing how time flies.
FT was one of the funniest things ever on TV. All the cast members were great (for me it's stood the test of time better than most of the Monty Python stuff). Sybil and Basil's marital bliss made for many memorable moments.

She was a force and could perform in comedy and drama, film and stage at a grand level. A life well lived!

Perhaps I was a bit harsh in the above. Look her up, watch some video and expand your horizons. She's worth the effort I believe.
She had dementia for quite a while, I believe. Fawlty Towers would not have worked without her.

I wouldn't have recognized her by name, and I have not seen every episode, but I would stay up late watching re-runs of Fawlty Towers on PBS.

I have the DVD set...will have to revisit it again before long. In an interview with Cleese (I'm pretty sure it was in the special features in the set) he talks about how they almost made a Fawlty Towers movie...the story they had for it as he describes it is absolutely hilarious. Oh how I wish it had been made.
Farty owls is certainly a classic. It wouldn't have worked without her.

It was a great show! She was excellent in the role. My wife & I enjoyed this series of her & husband Tim West. traveling about UK on Canal Boats. She was beginning to struggle, but it gives great insight into their lives & careers.

The narrow boat series is a tribute to the devotion they had for one another and a terrific insight into the horrors of the illness.
I think the term is on point.
Back to the point. Even if all she did was Faulty Towers she got more then a lifetime of laughs out of just that series. As it's clearly one of those gems that people rewatch many times and somehow the funny doesn't wear off. That's a compliment that might not register to some but to others they'll see that as high praise.
