Sad news. Gerry marsden had a very nice pronounced scouse singing voice. Of course, the Pacemakers were the second act signed by Brian Epstein and they benefited from the fact that the Beatles, in their charming impertinent way, told George Martin that they did not want to do a song called "HOW do you do it". As a result, it was given to Gerry and his group and became a hit.

Mum and I went to see Gerry and the Pacemakers at the Solid Silver 60s show at Buxton in 2008; this show also featured Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch in their last tour before Dave Dee's death the following year. The other acts were Dave Berry and the Swinging Blue Jeans.
As expected, the Mersey ferry uses "Ferry Cross The Mersey" on the PA system commentary.
