I only ever saw Forrest Gump which was a brilliant film but suspect he wrote more. very sad loss.

Forrest Gump author Winston Groom dies aged 77

His book was made into the hugely successful Oscar-winning 1994 film starring Tom Hanks.

Sad to hear. Everyone knows the movie but few people it seems know the book, which is much different and not as heartwarming.

The best part of the book, for me, was the way he wrote forrest’s accent. ‘Shrimp’ was ‘srimp,’ ‘grabbed’ was ‘grapped.’ Very amusing, and wild. Almost nothing to do with the movie at all. Forrest cusses and hires hookers in the book, is like 7’ tall and a muscular beast.

Yep. The sequel was pretty good too.
