Washington State
Growing up in Washington State and spending my teenage years during the explosion of the Grunge/Alternative scene, it was hard not to get into bands like Nirvana, Mud Honey, Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, The Melvins, Alice in Chains and of course Soundgarden. I was definitely a fan of the band, as well as a fan of Audio Slave and Temple of the Dog. Heck, in my opinion "BadMotorFinger" is one of the Top 10 albums of the 1990's. I was actually rocking out to a compilation of Soundgarden songs while driving around at work yesterday, only to get home and hear the shocking news. Such a tragedy... especially knowing he hung himself. Just terrible. Today I listened to a bulk of the Soundgarden catalog. A great talent gone too soon.

It wouldn't have surprised me if dude recording this had to wear some sort of associated battery or equipment backpack for his VHS camera.
This is how it was done, but they tended not to use VHS, rather those little Sony tapes. Bootleg traders really had their act together back in the 1990s.

I grew up here in WA as well. It was really something to be a young man in the middle of a music movement. Of all the grunge bands, Soundgarden was always my favorite. Saw them a few times. I actually saw them 2 years ago with my wife. The strobes gave her those videogame-like seisures and we had to wander the lobby and listen to the last 1/3 of the show from there.
I really loved Chris's voice. Badmotofinger carried me through many tough times with breakups. I wholeheartedly agree that it was one of the top 10 if not top 5 albums of the '90s.
It always breaks my heart when the passing is self inflicted. It just slays me.
So sad that we cannot keep a kernel of hope in people's heads in this day and age and stop fucking suicides. I hate them!

Anytime I hear of a suicide my first question is, were they on SSRI's? If so, there's a good chance that was the prime cause imo.

Brian, not sure about this ssri's agree btw. Unfortunately it seems people with that talent sometimes live under oppressive depression and they tend to self medicate

I'm not sure all suicides are depression-related anyway. I have a feeling some people just get done playing, for one reason or another, and want to get out of the sandbox.

Just saw him last July in Spokane. He played three hours solid with no break. He will be missed.
