Sad news indeed. Few hours ago I was checking my humidor for a cigar to smoke, found a CAO cigar but decided to keep it for later. He contributed a lot both to pipe and cigar hobbies. Rest in peace, sir.
CAO goes back long before me in the hobby but I remember him a being very friendly at all the shows I met him at. IMO he was the force in upping the quality of the Turkish meers. He introduced one of his carves (Beckler?) to hobby at the Corps and Cpcc shows years ago. RIP
Agreed 100%, dave. CAO was the big noise in Turkish meers back when I was in the biz 40 years ago. Absolutely no question he was the watershed point & driver behind the better quality. Sorry to hear the cancer got him.
