I bought the recent version about a month ago. I am extremely pleased with it. Cool smoke. I've been running aromatics thru it and it as been performing great. 50$ for a cob is high but I am sitting here smoking a country gentleman that I bought years ago and after hundreds of smokes it is still going strong. So if the rev cali can get the same mileage then I don't mind the investment.

Incidentally, if anyone is so incensed about MM marketing to smokers of greener substances that they want to get rid of theor cobs, just send 'em to me. I'll take them off your hands.

I do like the shape of it. The chonky design would probably feel satisfying in the hand. I'm not sure if I'd use that like my other cobs, beaters for mindless pipe smoking. It looks a bit big for that. The $50 price tag does give me pause as it's defeating one of the biggest selling points. But it's still not really any more than any of the basket pipes I have, still comparable to a Dr. Grabow.

I don't blame Chasing Embers one bit for avoiding Missouri Meerschaum though. Corporate actions do go far with me as well. But their decision to open different seemingly unrelated revenue streams doesn't sit as bad with me. As long as they don't try to go too much further, and as long as it doesn't interfere with their tobacco centric lineup doesn't suffer.

20230823_201032.jpgI have been smoking it a lot more than I thought I would. I love the char on the outside. The random nature. I picked through a bunch in Columbus to pick the one I wanted. Definitely works as well as my other RC pipes, seems sturdy thus far.
